“Every local primary school will be getting a new hall, library, learning centre or classrooms out of this program,” Mark Dreyfus said. “At this time of global financial crisis, it is important for the Federal Government to invest in infrastructure that creates jobs and delivers long-term benefits to students and schools.”

The four local primary schools receiving funding in round one of the program are:

  1. Rowellyn Park Primary School - $3 million to build new classrooms and a learning resource centre
  2. Carrum Downs Primary School - $3 million to build a new multi-purpose hall
  3. Skye Primary School - $3 million to build new classrooms and a learning resource centre
  4. St Joachim’s Catholic Primary School - $2.5 million to build a new multi-purpose hall

Mark Dreyfus said these facilities will give students the most modern venues to enhance the learning experience of local students.

“Whether it is a new hall, learning centre or set of classrooms, our local schools will benefit and be able to help our kids achieve their full potential,” Mark Dreyfus said.

Under the Rudd Government’s Building Education Revolution program, every primary and P-12 school in Australia will have a major infrastructure project built to stimulate jobs growth and modernise our schools.
