Mark Dreyfus, Federal Member for Isaacs, announced that three local schools will receive funding for new school computers under the Rudd Government’s $1.2 billion Digital Education Revolution.
“These new computers are part of the Rudd Government’s commitment for all Australian students to receive a world class education with the best possible classroom facilities,” Mark Dreyfus said.
The funding is from Round One of the National Secondary School Computer Fund. The successful schools are:
Grants of $1000 per computer have been provided. Bulk purchasing arrangements will deliver savings that can be use for associated costs. This funding delivers on Kevin Rudd’s election commitment to provide a world class education for all Australian students.
“In this first round, the Rudd Government has prioritised the schools with the greatest need for funding – those with 1 computer for every 8 students or more. In the next round, the Rudd Government will fund even more secondary schools to move towards the national benchmark of 1 computers for every 2 students,” explained Mark Dreyfus.
Mark Dreyfus is encouraging all local secondary schools to apply for Round Two funding (expected to open on 14 July 2008).
